FD Build: Wrapping my dash.

One thing about the rx7 that really bugs me and a lot of other owners is the cheap dash which was later improved in the 94+ years. Unfortunately for me I have a 93 rx7 not a 94+. So my only options are to paint the dash or wrap it because the current dash has scratches all over it.

I decided to go with the wrap option for now since it seemed at the time the easy route to go since if i were going to paint it there would be more prep work that would need to be done. So i started by removing all the dash parts that i intended to wrap out of the car.

Center Console Removed

Hood and Gauge Cluster removed

All parts removed

After i removed all the parts i wanted to wrap i decided to tackle the easiest part and work my way to what i believed to be the hardest part to wrap. So i started with the center console and it wasn't too bad. This was the first time I ever wrapped anything and it turned out ok. Also i decided to go with a Carbon fiber look with my wrap.

The other two parts ended up being more and more harder to do by myself. The other center console that holds the HVAC wasnt so bad but what was annoying was all the little hole for all the AC/Heater. I guess i could have left it covered but it wouldnt have looked as good.

I did the best i could with wrapping it and cutting out the little details with the AC/Heater. To the naked eye it looks good but to me its only an OK job. I think i could have done a better job, but i'll probably end up removing my dash in the future so i'll fix it then. So on to the last part! The hood and gauge cluster.

I forgot to take pictures of the gauge cluster while off the car because i was in a rush to put everything back together before the HellaFlush Tailgate Meet so here pictures of it in the car!

Gauge Cluster back in the car

All in all i think everything turned out okay for my first time. There are a few imperfections i notice but most people wont notice them. I think this is better then how it was before with all the scratches it had before. Later on i'll remove it again and just get it painted or hydro dipped. On to the next mod!
